Chester Ultra 100
The Chester Ultra 100 is a 102 mile ultramarathon around Chester with 1590 m of ascent and a field limit of 400 participants. The route links local trails and canals including the Sandstone Trail, Delamere Forest, Beeston Castle, Helsby Hill, the Bridgewater Canal, the Trans Pennine Trail and the North Cheshire Way, and is marked with GB Ultras support at 12 checkpoints.
Checkpoints offer refreshments such as water, cola, Tailwind mandarin orange, juice, sandwiches, fruit, snacks and hot drinks at indoor locations. Pasta and soup are provided at specific indoor checkpoints. Dropbags are permitted at the Frodsham checkpoint locations and must meet the stated size and weight limits, with one dropbag sufficient for both drop locations.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. It awards ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points. There is a 32 hour overall cut off, and checkpoint cut off times are strictly enforced. Finishers receive buckle awards by finishing position with gold silver or bronze categories and prizes for the top three men and top three women.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes items such as a waterproof coat with sealed seams, long sleeve base layer, minimum 1 litre water container, headtorch minimum 75 lumens, a secondary torch, whistle, survival bag and the GB Race Tracker device provided at registration.
