Cheshire Ring Ultra 100
The Cheshire Ring Ultra 100 is a 102 mile ultramarathon around the Manchester region that links the Bridgewater, Ashton, Rochdale, Peak Forest, Trent and Mersey, and Macclesfield canals. The event is organised by GB Ultras, licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. The race has 250 places, 345 m of elevation and a 30 hour cut off; entry fees are listed for affiliated and unaffiliated entrants.
The route is waymarked and supported at 11 checkpoints that provide refreshments, vegan and vegetarian options, hot food at village hall locations, and basic medical cover. Live online GPS tracking is provided via GB Race Tracker and a GPX of the route is available. Finishers earn 100 mile belt buckles by placing bands: Gold for the top 100, Silver for 100 to 200, Bronze for 201 and beyond; there are additional prizes for the top three male and top three female finishers.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is subject to random checks. Required items include a waterproof coat with sealed seams (min 10,000 mm), long sleeve base layer, water container (min 1 litre), charged mobile phone, survival/thermal bag, headtorch (min 75 lumens), whistle, backup light (min 25 lumens) and the event GPS tracker. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have completed an organised ultramarathon of at least 50 miles prior to entry.
Support crew access is restricted at some checkpoints, pacers are permitted from halfway at Checkpoint 7 and dropbags are allowed at specified checkpoints with size and weight limits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
