About the race
The 38th Cannock Chase Trig Points Race is an off‑road trig‑point event of approximately 26.5 km with about 540 metres of climb (FRA category CL). The event is based at Milford Common and Milford Hall Cricket Club in Milford, Staffordshire, with the course using tracks, paths and sections of open terrain.
Runners navigate the course themselves, visiting a series of trig‑point checkpoints in order before returning to the finish at Milford Common. Named checkpoints on the route include Rifle Range, Moors Gorse, Castle Ring and Glacial Boulder. A race map specific to the event is available through the entry process and on the organiser’s site.
Entry is by pre‑entry only with a limit of 175 competitors and a minimum age of 18 on the event date. Entry fees are listed for FRA members and non‑members. Si Timing is used for electronic timing; loss or non‑return of the timing dibber incurs a £40 charge.
Safety and event procedures include a 2‑minute stop each way at Moors Gorse for a safe road crossing and a 70‑minute cut off on the outward leg at Moors Gorse; participants who exceed the cut off are required to return to Milford and download their time. FRA mandatory kit is required and includes waterproof body cover (top and trousers), hat, gloves, map, compass and whistle. Toilets are available at the cricket club and Milford Common.
