Cannock Chase Trigs
The Cannock Chase Trig Points race is an off-road, self-navigation trail event on Staffordshire terrain held on Sunday 10 January 2027. The course is 26.5 km with about 540 m of total ascent and runs over forest single track, sandy climbs and open heathland. Runners must visit five checkpoints in order and return to the finish at Milford Common. Key named locations on the route include Rifle Range, Moors Gorse, Castle Ring and the Glacial Boulder.
Entry is pre-registration only via the SI entry system, with entries opening 1 November and closing on Friday 8 January or when the 160 runner limit is reached. Entry fees are £13 for FRA members and £15 for non members. SI electronic timing is used and competitors collect a timing dibber at registration; lost or unreturned dibbers incur a £40 charge.
FRA mandatory kit is enforced and includes a full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, map, whistle and compass. There is a 65 minute cut-off on the outward leg at Moors Gorse; runners exceeding this must return directly to Milford rather than proceeding to Castle Ring. A two minute hold is applied both ways at Moors Gorse for safe road crossing. No drinks are provided at Moors Gorse. Toilets are available at the Cricket Club and Milford Common. Post race refreshments, changing rooms and showers are available at the Cricket Club. Adidas TERREX and Run & Ride Milford are listed as sponsors.
