About the race
The 23nd Annual Calico Trail Run takes place Sunday, January 24, 2027. It is a trail running event offered in two distance options and held in the historic mining landscape of the Calico Mountains.
The race distances are:
- 30K
- 50K
The course goes through the Historic Calico Ghost Town and the surrounding Calico Mountains in the Mojave Desert. Calico Ghost Town was founded in 1881 as a silver mining town about 10 miles north of Barstow, California. Silver mining declined in the late 1890s and borax mining was active in the region into the early 1900s. The town was donated to the County of San Bernardino in 1967 and is maintained as a county regional park.
The event is a USATF sanctioned trail race and is presented by a nonprofit organization that promotes education about the Mojave Desert and provides resources to underprivileged communities interested in desert education. The event materials describe the course terrain as rugged and set among historic mining features and desert mountain scenery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
