Cactus Classic Trail Races
The Cactus Classic Trail Races are scheduled for March 6, 2027, at Sand Ridge State Forest in Manito, IL. The event marks the 17th anniversary of the race, which began in 2010.
Distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The course runs through pine forests and begins and ends at the Oak Campground. Trails consist of loose sandy soil that makes running similar to running on a beach. The route features many flat runnable sections and several rolling sections. Various species of cactus grow wild throughout the park and are visible along the trails.
Packet pickup is available race morning at the Oak Camp area. Parking is located in the Oak Camp area with overflow parking along Cactus Drive. Any drop in distance must be completed before the race start to avoid being recorded as a DNF.
Registration opens January 1, 2027. Race day registration fees are listed as 10K $60, Half Marathon $80, and Full Marathon $100; race day registration does not include a shirt or hoodie.
Full and Half Marathon entrants receive a hoodie and 10K entrants receive a t-shirt. All sizes are unisex. To be guaranteed a shirt or hoodie, registration must be completed by February 20. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
