Bude Pirate Run
The Bude Pirate Run is an approximately eight mile multi terrain race on the Cornish coast, held on 20 September 2026 at Crooklets, Bude. The route is mostly off road and combines coast path, fields and woodland with a couple of short road sections, and returns to the start and finish on Maer Down at Crooklets. Elevation is approximately 1,221 ft.
The course includes a road section between Coombe and Duckpool and several road crossings that remain open to traffic; marshals will assist but competitors are responsible for crossing safely. Water stations are provided at about mile 3, mile 6 and at the finish. The event uses ankle timing tags; runners must wear and return the tag after finishing or withdrawing.
Race rules include a minimum age of 17 on race day, a prohibition on headphones, and no dogs because the race is part of the Cornwall Multi Terrain Series. Entries are online only and close on Friday 18 September 2026; there are no entries on the day. Every finisher receives a Cornish medal and a post race Pengenna pasty. Pasty choices at entry are steak, cheese and onion or vegan; gluten free pasties are not available from the current supplier. Prizes include overall top finishers, age category awards, team awards and a best dressed pirate prize.
The event supports the local surf life saving club and uses the club as race headquarters. A sports massage service may be available on race day with voluntary donations invited for the surf life saving club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
