Buck Rut Run
The Buck Rut Run is a community 5K trail run held at Minocqua Winter Park in Minocqua, Wisconsin. The course uses the park trail system and runs over natural terrain.
The event raises money for Minocqua Winter Park and the Lakeland Union High School Cross Country Team. The race timer charges no fee and all proceeds are divided between these two organizations. Organizers have stated that future editions will require at least 50 entries to continue; the 2026 edition is confirmed and continuation in 2027 will depend on entry numbers.
Online registration is available from September 1 through October 24 with a tiered fee schedule: September 1 through September 15 is $25 for adults and $20 for ages 1 to 18; September 16 through October 24 is $30 for adults and $25 for ages 1 to 18. Race day registration is $40 for all ages. Registration includes a t-shirt, a custom race bib for the first 50 registrants, and post race snacks. To be guaranteed a t-shirt, registration must be completed before October 12, 2026. Race day registration and bib pickup accept only cash or check.
Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners. Age group awards are given to the first male and female placers in these groups: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
