Brutal @ Spider Hill
This event takes place at Spider Hill in Long Valley on Saturday 21st November. Entries close at 23:59 on Thursday 19th November. The event has separate entry limits for each course; at the time shown there are 22 entries of 100 for the 5 km and 88 entries of 300 for the 10 km.
Distances
- 5 km: a shortened version of the 10 km course, retaining mud, water and hills.
- 10 km: a single lap route including Alligator Swamp, Swan Lake, Muddy Mile and Duck Pond.
The route starts with a gentle run out to a steep climb, then opens into a series of climbs and a couple of marshes up to the 5 km point. After that it passes through a cooling marsh, then Alligator Swamp and Swan Lake. The Muddy Mile follows with two steep climb outs, and there is a wide view around the 8 km point. The course then goes by Duck Pond, up a very steep short uphill, down a fast descent and over another couple of testing hills before returning to the finish. The organiser describes this as the wettest Brutal race.
Entry fees from 28 September are listed separately for senior and junior entries. Minimum ages are 10 for the 5 km and 13 for the 10 km, with juniors defined as under 18 on race day.
