Brutal @ Spider Hill
The event takes place at Spider Hill in Long Valley on Saturday 21st November. Entries close on Thursday 19th November. Car sharing is available and the arena is reached via a short drive up a track off Bourley Road; the entrance what3words location is ///barn.agents.entry.
The courses offered are:
- 5 km: shortened version of the 10 km route (Entered: 0 of 100)
- 10 km: a single lap including named features (Entered: 22 of 300)
The 10 km route includes a gentle run out to a steep climb, followed by a series of climbs and marshes to the 5 km point. After that it passes a cooling marsh, Alligator Swamp, Swan Lake, and the Muddy Mile with two steep climb outs. There is a view near 8 km, then the route goes through the Duck Pond, a very steep short uphill, a fast descent and a couple more testing hills before returning to the arena. The 5 km route is a shortened version that still includes mud, water and hills.
Entry fees vary by date and age category. Early bird fees from 20 April and standard fees from 28 September are listed separately for seniors and juniors. Juniors are defined as under 18 on race day; minimum ages are 10 for the 5 km and 13 for the 10 km. Entries can be withdrawn up until the Thursday prior to the event; withdrawn entries are credited to the entrant's account for use at another Brutal event and are not refunded.
