GPS Cross Country 5K
The event is a 5K cross country run held at Herring Run Park in Baltimore on November 15, 2026. The course begins along Belair Road on the Chesterfield side near the muraled shed (coordinates 39.326448, -76.568350). Participants are advised to park on Belair or Chesterfield Road and walk to the start toward the Herring Run Bridge on the Chesterfield side upstream of the bridge.
The route uses a mix of paved sections, open field running and technical single-track trails. The race begins with an XC style mass start and includes two river crossings and stretches through wooded areas. The course deviates from local high school layouts, so road shoes are acceptable in places but some technical sections may benefit from trail shoes.
The event is offered at no entry cost; donations are accepted for the scholarship fund for college freshmen or to the Friends of Herring Run Parks. This competition is the final Grand Prix Series race of the year. Due to numerous turns and the compact course layout, volunteers are needed to assist with course management.
