BRR Training Run #2: Death By Do Loop
This training run takes place on the southernmost section of the Bull Run Run 50-mile course, accessed from Fountainhead Regional Park. The route is an out-and-back lollipop of approximately 7 miles from the large Bull Run-Occoquan trailhead parking lot, with about 900 feet of total ascent and descent. The terrain includes many rolling hills, some steep but short.
The event is the second of three planned BRR prep runs on the 50-mile course and is intended to help participants become familiar with this section while seeing how many laps they can complete. The course will be minimally marked. A GPX file for the loop is provided.
Participants are invited to contribute snacks or drinks for a shared pot-luck aid station at the Fountainhead parking lot; this aid station is intended for refueling between loops and then serves as a social zone for recovery afterward.
A co-founder will not be available to host; the race director will be in charge for this edition. The club states that no medical personnel, supplies, or services are provided by the club during the event. Runners are responsible for their own health, safety, and emergency care; remote locations may delay professional assistance. Reported injuries at similar events include scrapes, cuts, bruises, sprains, and allergic reactions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
