Broome International Airport Marathon : Event information
The Broome International Airport Marathon is held on Cable Beach in Broome, Western Australia, during the dry season. The event date for the 2027 running festival is Sunday 11 July 2027. Organisers select the date to match tides that produce firm, hard packed sand for running.
Available race distances:
- 42.2 km marathon (four laps out to Gantheaume Point and back)
- 21.1 km half marathon (two laps out to Gantheaume Point and back)
- 10.5 km dash (one lap out to Gantheaume Point and back)
Number and race pack collection takes place at Cable Beach behind the Surf Club. Race briefings and rolling post-race presentations occur on Cable Beach at the start/finish area. Event terms, conditions and race rules are provided in downloadable PDF files.
Aid stations are positioned approximately every 5 km on the hard packed sand, including at the Gantheaume Point turn and at the Cable Beach start/finish area. Cups of water, electrolyte drink and bottled water are available at all aid stations. Bins are provided at drink stations and competitors are required to dispose of used cups in the bins to avoid littering.
