Broome International Airport Marathon
The Broome International Airport Marathon is a beach running event held on Cable Beach in Broome, Western Australia. The race is staged during the dry season and uses tide times to ensure firm, hard packed sand underfoot.
Distances offered include:
- 42.2 km Marathon: four laps to Gantheaume Point and back.
- 21.1 km Half Marathon: two laps to Gantheaume Point and back.
- 10.5 km Dash: one lap to Gantheaume Point and back.
Drink stations are located every 5 km on the hard packed sand at the Gantheaume Point turn and at the Cable Beach start and finish area. Cups of water, electrolyte drink and bottles of water are available at all aid stations. Bins are provided at every drink station and competitors must place used cups in the bins.
Race numbers and packs are collected the day before the event at Cable Beach, behind the Surf Club, during a scheduled collection window. The event is supported by the WA Government through Tourism WA and Royalties for Regions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
