About the race
This is the eighth annual Brighter Futures 5K held on the Lancaster Junction Recreation Trail in Manheim, Pennsylvania. The event offers both in-person and virtual 5K options with separate entries for adults and children 12 and under. The in-person course is chip-timed and uses a crushed stone trail described as flat, shaded, and scenic. Event amenities listed for in-person participants include a goody bag for those preregistered by October 24, door prizes that require in-person presence to win, a water station, restrooms, free parking, pre-race coffee, and post-race refreshment. Entry fees are stated as $25 for adult entries and $10 for children 12 and under.
Registration opens in September; some entries close on October 30 while other entries remain available through race day. In-person awards for the 5K include cash prizes for overall finishers: $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place for male and female categories. Recognition is listed for the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over. Winners must be present to receive awards; awards will not be mailed. All proceeds are designated for the Friends of Pam Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, part of Kids' Chance of PA's named scholar partner program.
Virtual participants who submit a time by November 10 are eligible for a prize drawing but do not receive goody bags or awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
