Blythedale Trail Run
The Blythedale Trail Run takes place on Sunday, 20 September 2026, at the Blythedale Event Bowl and Grumpy's Bush and Beach Restaurant. The event begins along the coastline and moves from the beach into indigenous coastal forest, following singletrack and dirt roads that pass the Mdlotane Estuary where river and sea meet.
Routes include flowing singletrack, rugged farm tracks and sections through timber plantations and sugarcane fields. The long course extends further inland onto sugarcane farm tracks. Courses are run as loops and are subject to change. There are no compulsory kit requirements listed for the races.
Aid stations are provided on course: the long route has three stations, the medium route has two, and the short route has one. Pets are welcome on a leash and should be fully vaccinated. Race briefings are held before each race and registration opens on the morning of the event.
Distances offered:
- 18 km Long Course, 479 m elevation, 3 aid stations
- 11 km Medium Course, 284 m elevation, 2 aid stations
- 5 km Short Course, 148 m elevation, 1 aid station
The courses move between open coastline, shaded forest corridors and estuary environments, providing a mix of runnable sections and sustained climbs with coastal views in places. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
