Blouklip Trail Run
The Blouklip Trail Run is a trail event based at Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch that follows tracks beside the Blouklip River and along the slopes of the Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountains. Routes pass vineyards and sections with indigenous trees recognised by the World Wide Fund for Nature as part of the farm's conservation efforts.
The event uses a mix of single track and farm paths. The longer routes head toward the neck at Lourensford and offer views of the Helderberg Dome and Suurberg. The intermediate route follows trails around De Trafford Wines and uses a winemaker's walking path to a cellar. Parts of the courses run under tree canopy and include a historic bridge and riverside sections.
Required kit and event services are specified by the organiser. Hydration packs are compulsory on the two longer distances, and a rain jacket and charged phone are compulsory. Aid stations are provided on all three routes. Parking at the venue is limited and entries are online only. Dogs are not permitted. The organiser also permits a spectator option with on-site wine tasting and food vendors, and live music will be available after the run.
