About the race
The inaugural Black Oak Challenge takes place on September 19, 2026, at the Westside Pavilion in Tuolumne, California. The event includes a timed 5K Adventure Challenge with on-course obstacles and physical challenges, and a separate Kid Family Fun Run designed for younger participants.
The 5K is a timed course that features obstacles and a few surprises. The format encourages participants to help one another through the course; every participant receives an official Black Oak Challenge headband, and everyone who completes the 5K earns a commemorative finisher medal.
The Kid Family Fun Run offers a shorter, playful course with water obstacles and other kid-focused challenges. Children may take the course at their own pace and have the option to complete up to one mile. Every child participant receives an official Black Oak Challenge headband.
Registration opens July 15, 2026, and closes September 19, 2026. Registration fees are listed as $60.00 for the 5K and $10.00 for the Kid Family Fun Run.
Distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Kid Family Fun Run (1K, option to complete up to 1 mile)
Sponsorship packages are available, including Gold ($600) and Silver ($300) levels, plus opportunities to sponsor individual obstacle stations with on-site signage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
