Black Hill Trail Run

The Black Hill Trail Run takes place in Bere Regis, Dorset, with Race HQ at the Scout Hut on Elder Road (BH20 7LY). The event offers off-road trail running on a figure of eight course with a clear split between the two distances.

Distances

  • 5 km
  • 10 km

The 5 km and 10 km start together and separate at around 3.5 km; the split is signed and marshalled and race numbers are colour coded to show which race a runner is in. The route follows well worn trails but includes boggy and steep sections, low branches, tree roots and uneven footing. There is no water station on the route; water is available at the finish. First aiders are present and entrants must provide relevant medical information at registration.

Entries are online through the listed registration provider; there are no entries on the day. Age limits on race day are 12+ for the 5 km and 16+ for the 10 km, referencing Association of Running Clubs rule 80. Prizes include hampers for first to third place in both male and female categories and Top-Dog awards for canicross winners. Canicross is allowed in both events; dogs must be over 12 months old, wear a suitable harness, and be attached to a waist belt by a shock absorbent line. The race operates under an ARC permit and profits benefit the Bere Regis Scout Group and the Kingsbere Explorer Scout Unit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
