Black Bear Trail Races
Black Bear Trail Races take place in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, and feature multiple trail distances that start and finish at Town Square. Courses run through White Mountain forests and streams and use long established trail networks near several 4,000 foot peaks.
Distances offered:
- 50K 30.8 miles, about 7,700 feet total elevation gain
- 23K 14.64 miles, about 1,696 feet total elevation gain
- 4 Mile 4.1 miles, about 600 feet total elevation gain
- 1 Mile Fun Run 1.5 miles, about 150 feet total elevation gain
The 50K route circumnavigates nearby 4,000 foot peaks, includes multiple aid stations, and requires specific gear such as a headlamp, extra batteries, at least 2 liters of fluids, an emergency space blanket, roughly 400 calories of food, and a phone with the GPX track. Aid stations across distances will offer water, hydration supplement, and nutrition, but the event is cup less so participants must carry their own hydration system.
Parking is available adjacent to the Town Square at 33 Village Road. Crews and pacers are not allowed on course; crews may gather at the finish line village. Drop bags are permitted at the start/finish area. All finishers receive a commemorative award and podium awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance.
