Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon

The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon is a point to point off-road running event between Wolverhampton City Centre and Brindley Place in Birmingham. The course follows canal towpaths and passes along varied surfaces, including gravel tracks, unkept trails and sections of smooth pavement.

The race distance is 21.10 KM. The route is largely flat; the only notable inclines are locks and bridges. A distinctive feature of the course is the Coseley Tunnel, a 360 metre tunnel encountered on the route. Aid is provided on the water by floating drink stations on canal barges approximately every three miles offering water and electrolyte.

Runners are seeded by predicted finishing time and start in grouped waves to reduce crowding and to match pacing. The event accommodates a range of participants from club and elite runners to those running for charity or personal reasons. Occasional course diversions may be required by land owners, including the Canals and Rivers Trust, and such changes can be announced at short notice.

The finish area is in Brindley Place, where all finishers receive a bespoke finisher medal and a goody bag. The location includes nearby pubs and bars for post-race refreshment and spectator activity. Entry for the main running event is listed with a fee and has a set closing date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
