Shark Week Showdown 5K/10K - Waco
The event is scheduled for July 18, 2027 in Waco, Texas and is organized by Bigfoot Running Company. The street address is to be determined. Events take place in parks and greenbelts and proceed rain or shine.
Distances and formats include:
- Kids Dash : 50 m, untimed, youth dash with medal.
- 1 Mile : not chip timed, includes finisher medal.
- 5K : 3.11 miles, chip timed with awards.
- 10K : 6.22 miles, chip timed with awards.
- Volunteer then Run 5K : volunteer role plus 5K entry.
- Virtual Run : 9.33 miles, virtual format.
On-course and event features include finisher medals for the 1 Mile, 5K and 10K, a special Kids Dash medal, race tees, music at the start and finish, aid stations along the course, and finish-line celebrations and awards. Age-group awards for the 5K and 10K follow standard categories, with overall trophies and masters recognition.
Volunteer options are available. The Volunteer then Run option for the 5K is limited to the first 10 sign-ups and includes a custom chip-timed bib, race tee, and finisher medal. Full race volunteers receive a race shirt, VIP access, and a choice of a future race entry or a $20 prepaid digital gift card. Volunteers are asked to arrive 1.5 hours before race start and check in at the Registration Tent.
Logistics notes: packet pickup opens 1.5 hours before race start, shirt guarantee requires registration at least 10 days before race day, and the course surface is a mix of pavement, crushed granite, and some dirt paths.
