Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Oklahoma City
The event is centered at Draper Park in Oklahoma City and features a mix of in-person and virtual race options across several distances. The course passes through parkland with paved trails, crushed granite and occasional dirt paths. Aid stations are placed along the course to provide water and assistance to participants.
A pre-race costume contest is held at the start area and is judged for creativity, authenticity, and impact; the winner receives the Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and a prize package. A post-race rally tent hosts live music, a DJ, awards announcements, and Mexican food and drinks. Medals, tee shirts and trophies are distributed for various events and award categories.
Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event start. Shirt sizing is guaranteed if ordered at least ten days before the event; availability after that date will be posted if shirts remain. Volunteer roles include course monitor and aid station duties; volunteers arrive 1.5 hours before start and may receive a race shirt, souvenir medal, VIP access and a free future race entry or a $20 prepaid digital gift card. The event proceeds in most weather conditions.
