Beyond Manchester

Beyond Manchester presents two waymarked running routes that start and finish at Cathedral Gardens in Manchester. The event offers a city-to-greenbelt experience with canal, suburban and park sections.

Distances:

  • 55 km Ultra
  • 25 km Trail Run

The 55 km route travels from Cathedral Gardens through Manchester to the Manchester Ship Canal, then south along the canal through Salford Quays and past BBC buildings. It crosses from the Manchester Canal to the Bridgewater Canal, passes the Imperial War Museum North, goes through Eccles, follows a disused railway and continues north through outer suburbs to Bolton before heading east toward Bury. The route includes over 10 km on the Irwell Sculpture Trail and returns to the city centre, finishing among cathedrals, law courts and other historical buildings.

The 25 km route follows city streets to the Manchester Ship Canal, moves through Salford Quays past the BBC, crosses to the Bridgewater Canal, passes the Imperial War Museum North and views of Old Trafford, goes through Eccles, meets the River Irwell and returns to Manchester city centre past historic buildings.

Services and facilities include bespoke finishers medals, Wild Deer merchandise, fully signed routes, chip timing, GPX route files, medical support, finish line refreshments and feed stations. There is a bag drop at registration. Public transport is noted as the easiest way to reach the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
