Bend Beer Chase
The Bend Beer Chase is a running relay in Bend, Oregon on May 1, 2027. The full relay covers approximately 57 miles divided into 12 legs, with individual leg distances varying between 4 and 8 miles. On a six-person team each runner completes two legs; smaller teams split the 12 legs among fewer people.
The course begins along the Deschutes River in downtown Bend at Drake Park, follows scenic trails and rural back roads to Redmond and returns to Drake Park. The event finishes with a riverside beer festival at Drake Park where breweries provide beers on tap. Local breweries host exchange points along the course where participants may choose to sample a 3 to 4 ounce pour; sampling is optional.
Teams may include between 1 and 6 runners or walkers. Every team must designate a driver who is not allowed to consume alcohol during the event. Team captains can change team details before the race to ensure correct information on race materials.
Registration for the 2027 Bend Beer Chase opens August 1. The organizing group supports local charities through the Cascade Relays Foundation and reports having given over $890,000 since 2008. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
