Beecraigs Backyard Ultra
Beecraigs Backyard Ultra takes place on 24 April 2027 at Beecraigs Country Park, near Linlithgow in West Lothian, Scotland. The event uses a repeating loop through the Bathgate Hills area of the park.
Participants run one 4.167-mile (6.7056 km) loop each hour. The route follows a mix of forest trail, gravel paths and undulating woodland tracks with approximately 150 m of elevation per loop. The same loop is run each hour and route markings are described as clear and consistent.
The format requires finishing each lap within the hour to start the next one. The event continues until a single runner completes a lap alone; that runner is recorded as the winner. If no one completes a solo lap, there is no winner. All other starters are recorded as DNF and each participant receives a finisher's medal; trophies are awarded for the Last One Standing and the Assist.
Entry includes race participation and timing, parking for one vehicle, access to a small camping area (tent or small shelter 3x3 m max), hot water and drinks (bring a reusable cup), basic self-service snacks, toilets, live results and lap tracking. Camping stoves and open flames are prohibited on site. A limited area is set aside for solo runners without crew and there are planned spaces for campervans.
Runners may leave the course only to use the toilet and must check out at Race HQ if they withdraw. The event will run in most conditions; cancellation is only expected if the Park Ranger deems the site unsafe due to severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
