About the race
Backroads Gravel 2027 takes place in Nabawa, Chapman Valley, Western Australia, with the event village centred on Nabawa Oval. The weekend brings a mix of gravel cycling and trail running on the backroads and paddocks of Chapman Valley, with start and finish activity located at the oval and event services such as food, coffee, bike wash, results and presentations provided there. The program includes both bike and run options. Gravel ride distances span from short introductory rides up to long endurance routes, and running options range from short trail courses up to a full marathon.
The event hosts the 2027 AusCycling Gravel National Championships, bringing elite and age-group national competition to Nabawa. Local clubs and community groups staff aid stations and marshals for the event. The event has grown to a large field; the 2026 edition sold out with over 1,500 participants. Entries and pricing for 2027 are yet to be announced.
The event acknowledges the Yamatji people as Traditional Custodians of the land on which it meets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
