About the race
MarchMingle is an international, non competitive walking and hiking festival held annually in Canberra since 1992. The festival combines multi day hiking challenges, shorter social walks, an opening flag parade and intercultural program elements that emphasise community and cross cultural friendship.
Event HQ is located at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. Routes are revised periodically and new maps are published for each festival year. The event holds recognition from IML and IVV and offers accreditation, passports, stamps, medals and pins through those organisations.
Distances offered include both single day and two day combinations. Sample options include:
- 42 km marathon hike
- 21 km half marathon hike
- 24 km fitness hike
- 12 km city walk
- 7 km AussiePeaceWalk, a flat accessible community walk
Popular two day packages combine distances into weekend challenges, for example 42 km + 24 km, 21 km + 24 km, and 12 km + 12 km. The AussiePeaceWalk focuses on accessibility, family friendly participation and intercultural connection.
