About the race

Arc of Attrition by UTMB takes place on the South West Coast Path around Perranporth in Cornwall, United Kingdom, each January. The event comprises multiple ultra trail races run along coastal and cliffside terrain with variable winter weather.

Races and technical details include:

  • Arc 100M 173 km, 5507 m+ elevation
  • Arc 100K 82.7 km, 2708 m+ elevation
  • Arc 50K 49.4 km, 1458 m+ elevation
  • Arc 20K 22.1 km, 744 m+ elevation

The course follows rugged cliff paths and includes sustained climbs and descents. Winter conditions on the coast can be unpredictable, affecting underfoot conditions and weather on exposed sections of the route. The event layout spans several days in late January, with each distance staged on specific days.

Since its launch in 2015 the event has expanded from a single 100 mile race with 50 runners to include multiple distances. Information provided focuses on the route types, distances and elevation gains for each race and the coastal setting in Cornwall. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
