Amberaid 30 and Petit Raid

Amberaid is a trail event based at Ashover Village Hall, Ashover, Chesterfield (S45 0BA), organised by First Light Adventure. The event offers two race distances:

  • 31 miles (Amberaid 30)
  • 20 miles (Petit Raid - the Northern Loop)

Entrants must be 18 or older. Entry fees listed for the event are £32 affiliated / £34 non-affiliated for the 31-mile route and £28 affiliated / £30 non-affiliated for the 20-mile route.

Route and race details

The full route forms a figure of eight through the Amber Valley on undulating countryside paths and woodland trails. The course includes climbs and descents and is largely unmarked; route notes and a GPX file are provided for navigation. There are a number of self-clips to pass through.

There are four official checkpoints: CP1 Tupton (7 miles), CP2 Wessington (13 miles), CP3 Fritchley (20 miles) and CP4 Wessington (26 miles). Each checkpoint supplies water; CP2 and CP4 also provide food. The event has a 9-hour time limit. Every finisher receives a medal and there are trophies for first male and first female in each race.
