ALUT - Algarviana Ultra Trail 2026
The ALUT - Algarviana Ultra Trail is an endurance footrace held primarily along the Via Algarviana in Portugal. The eighth edition of this event is scheduled to take place between November 26 and November 29, 2026. The route begins at the quay in Alcoutim and concludes in Sagres, covering a total distance of approximately 305 km.
Participants must complete the course within a maximum time limit of 72 hours. The race is conducted in a solo modality under the principle of semi-autonomy. This means runners must be self-sufficient between aid stations regarding food, clothing, and safety. There are 9 designated life bases along the route where athletes can access liquid and solid refreshments, medical assistance, and their personal drop bags.
Due to the extreme nature of the event, specific entry requirements apply:
- Registration is limited to 100 participants.
- Athletes must have completed at least one race worth 4 ITRA points between January 2024 and September 2026.
- A medical certificate and a signed liability waiver are mandatory.
- Navigation is done exclusively via GPS device; the organization provides a tracking device for safety.
The course features significant elevation changes, with an approximate total ascent of 8,592 meters. Mandatory equipment includes a GPS device with extra batteries, a thermal blanket, a waterproof jacket, a whistle, and a minimum water capacity of 1.5 liters.
