About the race
The ALUT - Algarviana Ultra Trail is an outdoor trail running event held in Portugal from Alcoutim to Sagres over several days in late November 2026. The 2026 edition is the eighth and follows almost entirely the marked Via Algarviana route. The total course length is approximately 305 km with a maximum completion time of 72 hours; final route data and GPS tracks are issued to participants before the event.
Participation is admitted only in the solo modality. To register, athletes must have completed between January 2024 and September 2026 at least one race that awards 4 ITRA points; an ITRA performance index of 400 is recommended. Registration opens 26 March 2026 and closes 12 November 2026 or when the field reaches a limit of 100 participants. Entry fees increase in three phases.
The event uses a semi-autonomy model with mandatory material checks. Athletes must carry compulsory items including a backpack or waist pack with at least 1.5 L liquid capacity, a GPS device capable of recording at least 10,000 points with spare batteries, two lighting systems, food reserve (recommended minimum 1000 kcal), thermal blanket, waterproof, whistle, phone and the organization’s geolocator. Passage through designated life bases is mandatory and limited external assistance rules apply.
