About the race
The Aletsch Halbmarathon is a mountain half marathon on a 21.1 km course through the UNESCO World Heritage area with views of the Great Aletsch Glacier and surrounding four-thousand-metre peaks. The event includes additional running opportunities such as a Minirun and a Nordic Walking category. The field is limited to 2,700 starters and the race is scheduled as the 40th edition on 26 and 27 June 2027. Key practical details: the finish is located on the Bettmerhorn at 2,700 m elevation.
Timekeeping is done by chip through an external timing provider. The race uses start blocks (seven groups) allocated by expected or achieved running time. The start number also serves as a ticket for one downhill gondola ride from Bettmerhorn to Bettmeralp; a national Swiss Runners Ticket is accepted for specific transport connections. On course there are seven refreshment points with water, isotonic drinks, gels, bars and bananas, and multiple medical posts.
A finisher shirt is given to every athlete who crosses the finish line on the Bettmerhorn. The organiser enforces anti-doping rules and reserves the right to run an alternative route in unsafe conditions. Entry fees vary by registration window.
Prize money totalling CHF 10,000 is awarded to top finishers and special prizes for category winners and record performances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
