Air Force Marathon
The Air Force Marathon is an annual endurance event held in September at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. Multiple race formats are staged on and around base property, including events hosted at the National Museum of the United States Air Force and at the Wright State University Nutter Center.
The event program includes a range of distances and formats:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Tailwind Trot 1K kids' run
Additional options and series include relay events, challenge series such as the Aim High and Stratosphere challenges, a ruck division, and virtual race options for the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Tailwind Trot. The race weekend also features a Health & Fitness Expo, a Gourmet Pasta Dinner, and a Finish Line Festival. All participants are required to pick up their race packet, shirt, and goodie bag at the Health & Fitness Expo.
The event reports participation from thousands of athletes, representing all 50 US states and multiple foreign countries, supported by a large volunteer corps. Registration policies allow transfers to other events when space is available and permit deferral to the following year once, with specific deadlines; registration fees are non refundable except for official military deployment CED orders.
