About the race
The 3 Peaks Mountain Race is a trail running event in Ōtepoti, Dunedin, scheduled for Sunday 14 March 2027. It uses native-bush trails that climb the three named peaks: Flagstaff / Te Whanaupaki (668m), Swampy / Whāwhāraupō (739m) and Mt Cargill / Kapuketaumahaka (676m). The longer 56km course, 3 Peaks Plus 1, adds Pulpit Rock (760m) in the Silverpeaks.
The event starts and finishes within 4km of the city centre and accesses remote, rugged trails. Entry and race information note that runners must carry required essential gear; gear checks and registration are held in Chingford Park the day before the race.

- 56km 3 Peaks Plus 1 run
- 26km The 3 Peaks run or walk
- 11km Race the Summit run or walk
Finishers receive a medal. There will be food, coffee and children’s entertainment at the finish area. Prize giving takes place at Chingford Park with monetary prizes for overall placings: for the 56km and 26km first, second and third are $300, $200 and $100; for the 11km first, second and third are $150, $100 and $50. Age-category prizes of $100 are awarded in several age bands. Transport back to the start is provided by a small bus at regular intervals.
