Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra

The Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra is a point-to-point 57 mile ultramarathon with 231 m of elevation that runs between Glasgow and Edinburgh and offers 750 places. The event has an overall cut-off of 16 hours and entry fees start from £117. Finishers receive tiered medals: top 200 finishers earn Gold, 201–400 Silver, and 401+ Bronze; there are bespoke trophies for the top three male and top three female finishers.

The route follows the River Kelvin, Sustrans Route 754, the Forth and Clyde Canal, the Union Canals and the Water of Leith, and passes landmarks including the Falkirk Wheel and the Antonine Wall. Terrain is mainly canal towpath, tarmac and concrete. The course is waymarked with biodegradable tape and GB Ultras signage and provides live online GPS tracking via GB Race Tracker; trackers include an SOS function.

The start venue is Riverside Museum in Glasgow and the finish is at Edinburgh Athletics Track, Saughton Sports Complex, where separate male and female changing rooms and communal showers are available. The race has seven staffed checkpoints with refreshments at most locations; two checkpoints are water-only and some checkpoints restrict supporter vehicles for safety. Strict cut-off times are enforced at checkpoints and failure to check in will lead to disqualification.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked; required items include a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long-sleeved base layer in a dry bag, at least 1 litre water capacity, a fully charged mobile phone with Race HQ number stored, a foil blanket, a headtorch (min 75 lumens) plus a backup torch, a whistle and the GPS tracker issued at registration. Pacers and support runners are not permitted. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and have completed an organised marathon-distance event prior to race day. Refunds are not provided, though transfers and deferrals are permitted subject to the event terms and deadlines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
